The Accounting Diploma program prepares graduates for entry-level accounting positions in the work force or to continue their studies at KPU in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting. The Diploma program includes courses in financial accounting, management accounting, finance, taxation and auditing. Graduates will also take courses in economics, business math, business statistics, simply accounting, information management, English and communications. he Accounting Diploma is carefully aligned with the requirements of the CPA accounting designation. Some unique features of this program are: Applied projects and assignments to ensure graduates acquire the practical skills valued by employers. A large offering of courses in Richmond, Surrey and Langley during the day and evenings for Fall, Spring and Summer semesters to ensure maximum flexibility in schedules. Opportunities for accounting-related employment (through Career Services and Cooperative Education while earning a diploma. Applied projects and assignments to ensure graduates acquire the practical skills valued by employers. A large offering of courses in Richmond, Surrey, and Langley during the day and evenings for Fall, Spring and Summer semesters to ensure maximum flexibility in schedules. Introductory financial accounting is a prerequisite for other required accounting courses making it necessary to study for at least three semesters to earn all required credits for an Accounting Certificate. Many of the courses included in this program are articulated with other universities and colleges for ease of course transferability to and from KPU.

Career opportunities are numerous, diverse, and often lucrative for BBA Accounting graduates. More than 90% of Accounting graduates find career opportunities within six months of graduation. Some career path includes Budget Analyst, Banker, Internal Auditor, Forensic Accountant, Bookkeeper, Payroll Clerk, Billing Supervisor, Loans Officer, Personal Trust Officer, Credit Analyst, Audit Firm Manager, Billing Coordinator, Bookkeeper, Accounting Clerk, Accounts Payable/Receivable Assistant, Payroll Assistant, Junior Accountant (Co-op Placement), Financial Services Intern, Corporate Accounting Assistant, Banking Operations Trainee, Government Finance Clerk.

English Language Requirement

Kwantlen Polytechnic University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principal language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
