Associate of Science Degree (Accounting)

The accounting AS degree is designed to give students enough practical experience so that they can secure a position in either the public, governmental or private accounting sector. Accounting is considered to be the “language of all business,” and is a valuable skill set for anyone wishing to work in Silicon Valley. Accounting offers an interesting and rewarding career to people who can work with numbers, focus on details, use a computer, and work as part of a team. There is a strong demand for accounting assistants, and you can advance in your career by demonstrating your skills on the job. However, a Bachelor’s degree (any subject) is required to sit for the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam. Cañada College’s accounting program offers courses needed to complete the requirements for the Professional Bookkeeper exam in addition to the courses needed for an Associate’s Degree in Accounting, which is the first step to becoming a CPA.
