The Institutional and Home Care Assistance program program prepares students to practice the occupation of a health care attendant in the public and private health care sectors. Institutional and Home Care Assistants provide care, support or guide clients in organizing and carrying out activities of daily living. It prepares students for occupation of patient service associate and home support worker in the health and social services sector. This profession aims to provide care and assistance in public, private and community health care networks to persons of all ages who are sick or who have physical, psychological, or psychosocial disabilities. The rationale of this occupation is to provide aid to patients so that they may recover or maintain their autonomy and overall health condition.
Career Path
Works in public or private hospitals, long term care facilities (CHSLDs), and rehabilitation centers providing direct personal care, mobility assistance, basic health monitoring. Delivers personalized assistance directly in clients' residences, including personal hygiene, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and respite care for family caregivers.
Students can work part time for up to 20 hours per week and full time during academic breaks. After graduation, students from an eligible Designated Learning Institution may apply for work permit up to three years, depending on the length of study and program eligibility.

Canada College accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, evidence of English study within a 12 year education system where English is designated as the primary and official language and the principal language of instruction. For applicants who do not yet meet the English language requirement, there are two pathways to achieve the necessary level:
Pre sessional English Programme; Students may successfully complete a preparatory English programme offered by the university before beginning their academic course. Recognized English Proficiency Tests; Students may submit one of the following minimum scores prior to the start of their program: IELTS: 6.5 overall band score (or equivalent), TOEFL or PTE: Score of 60, Duolingo English Test: Score of 120.
