About This Programme

The Secretarial Studies program at CDC Pont Viau in Laval, Québec is a vocational training program that runs for about 14 months (1,485 hours) and prepares students for administrative and office support careers. The curriculum covers document preparation, transcription, office communication, scheduling, filing, and the use of office software and technology. Students also complete a 90 hour internship, which provides practical workplace experience. The program is taught in English, offered in a hybrid format, and requires exams to be completed at the centre. Secretarial tasks consist of entering texts and data into a computer, editing documents and designing presentations, spreadsheets, visual design of documents, with or without directions. Furthermore, secretaries can edit, put together documents that are entered by another person and translate texts. They correct texts, do layouts, collate and distrubute documents. Secretaries must also assure the quality of documents produced by proofreading for spelling, syntax and grammar.

English Language Requirement

CDC Pont Viau, Canada will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, evidence of English study within a 12 year education system where English is designated as the primary and official language and the principal language of instruction. For applicants who do not yet meet the English language requirement, there are two pathways to achieve the necessary level:

Pre sessional English Programme; Students may successfully complete a preparatory English programme offered by the university before beginning their academic course. Recognized English Proficiency Tests; Students may submit one of the following minimum scores prior to the start of their program: IELTS: 6.5 overall band score (or equivalent), TOEFL or PTE: Score of 60, Duolingo English Test: Score of 120.
