Courses offered cover issues like security studies, international relations theories, foreign policy, comparative cultural studies, international political economy, international law, international organizations, transnational civil society and migration as well as area studies such as European Union, Eurasia, Balkans, Middle East, Latin America, Central Asia studies, reflecting the interdisciplinary approach of the Department. International Relations is a subdiscipline under the broader field of the Political Science and it is the study of the interactions of actors in the international system. Traditionally the discipline of international relations analyzes the nature of violent conflict, interstate war, deterrence, cooperation, alliances.

Undergraduate student can work after they complete their first year at the university up 24 hours a week. Turkish laws allow students who graduate to apply for one year long residence/work permit.

İstanbul Medipol University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, evidence of English study within a 12 year education system where English is designated as the primary and official language and the principal language of instruction. For applicants who do not yet meet the English language requirement, there are two pathways to achieve the necessary level:
Pre-sessional English Programme; Students may successfully complete a preparatory English programme offered by the university before beginning their academic course. Recognized English Proficiency Tests; Students may submit one of the following minimum scores prior to the start of their program: IELTS: 6.5 overall band score (or equivalent), TOEFL or PTE: Score of 60, Duolingo English Test: Score of 120.
